new gadgets

I have seen many new inventions in my day ....why not ..in 70 plus years there is lots of room for improvements.

I complained about the portable phones installed in the autos until it became a great way of communicating with my world in the rental business. THEN came the cell phone.....help...everyone had one hanging on their ears,in pocket and purses. Now.... I cannot imagine the world without a cell phone....I love it....unless I am taking a nap and one of my family had not heard from me in a few hours. then they call me....where are you Grandma or what is happening. I have to thank them for their call, but tell them I know where I am..ha..But this texing thing is tough for me because I was taught by a strick old teacher named Miss Hahn. She is probably screaming through her coffin lid about the spelling as it is used on the text message. I am afraid my grandkids will be the worst spellers in the world...along with the millions of other people..including me....I am trying to unspell words.

But it is wonderful to keep in touch without runniung to a phone on the table or wall. When I misplace my friend cell phone...I panic...just use the house phone to call my cell....I use my cell to keep in touch...but I still find reading a good book or reading a hand writen letter from someone wonderful.

Very Very Very Old

My great-grandson calls me Very Very Old because I'm 70 years older than he is.  I am 76.  He is 6.  He feels he must help take care of me.  He opens doors, gives me the right golf club and tells people that I'm very old. I knew what club to use, but it was important to my great-grandson that he felt he was making a difference in my life.

He likes to watch what I eat so that I'm healthy.  He didn't think I should eat french fries at McDonald's because they would upset my stomach.  I know fries are not good for me, but at my age I can eat what I want.  I didn't eat them, though, because it was important to my little guy that he was helping me make better food choices.

When I would stay over night he would pull the blankets up on me to keep warm and he would also read me stories so that I wouldn't wear out my eyes.  I don't know where he comes up with these thoughts, but it sure is nice to have him care so much for my well being.

It's not too bad getting old, you just have to play the game.
